Young South Korean entrepreneur to sell world's first braille smartwatch

Since Apple’s Steve Jobs launched the iPhone 10 years ago, smartphones have changed people’s lives drastically. For many, it is now hard to imagine living without a device that, as well as making calls, allows you to connect with friends online, search for news, check the weather and watch movies.

However, at least one group of people has been unable to fully participate in the smartphone revolution — the visually-impaired. Eric Kim, chief executive of South Korean startup Dot, recognized this imbalance. In South Korea, 253,000 people were registered as visually-impaired in 2015, according to data from Statistics Korea. And with some 285 million visually-impaired people registered around the world, Kim realized there was a market to bring a more appropriate device to them.

Now, after two years of ups and downs, the company is making final preparations to release the result of Kim’s quest — the first braille smartwatch. The Dot Watch, which will be priced at $290 before tax when it goes on sale in the next few months, has drawn more than 150,000 pre-orders from 15 countries, including one from musician Stevie Wonder, according to the company. It enables visually-impaired people to check messages, the time and set alarms via a Bluetooth connection to other smart devices. (more…)

EU Suspends New Anti-Russian Sanctions Pending Ukraine Summit

The foreign ministers of the European Union have postponed implementing a new round of sanctions against Russia over the Ukrainian crisis until February 16, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Monday.

“This morning the question was raised of sanctions that were taken in regard to what happened in Mariupol [Ukraine],” Fabius told journalists on the sidelines of the EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels.

Fighting between Kiev forces and eastern Ukrainian independence supporters in Mariupol flared up earlier in the month.

“The principles of sanctions in regard to Mariupol remain, but they will be used depending on the situation there. We will discuss the situation by [next] Monday and see if the Minsk meeting gives any results and then make our conclusions,” Fabius said.

7 Major Candlestick Reversal Pattern Pairs

Candlestick reversal patterns can be a boon to any trader’s repertoire. Combining them with support/resistance lines and other indicators can increase a trader’s edge substantially. Each set below contains both the bearish and bullish counterparts. These are ideal setups that require directional movement (i.e. nothing range bound). The more volume at the given point, the more strength each of these patterns portend.

Realize that a candlestick pattern is simply a means of reading data on the chart. Whether you trade forex, stocks, options or futures it is a superior tool for technical analysis.
Once you become familliar with the basic candlestick patterns you will quickly assimilate their meaning and easily interpret them.
The patterns are basically intuitive and the learning curve is small.
There comes a point where you will recognize market sentiment without even identifying a specific candlestick pattern.
No matter what system style or technique you may implement the fact is you will be that much more effective by making candlestick charts your tool of choice.
The alternatives or archaic to say the least, and downright ugly once you get used to using Japanese candlesticks.
Candlestick charts are the most widely used for of charting for good reason. With a little practice and help, it is actually the most intuitive process for understanding current and future price action.

The Inanity Of Asking Questions On Blue Channels

Last week I was watching a investor query an analyst on a television show , the analyst in his most humble opinion on a particular stock said “Fundamentally it is good , technically it is not looking so good ” . What should I do asked the investor ? , the analyst replied ” I think you should hold on ” . the investor prompted “can I buy more , should I sell some ” . up came the analyst in his humble opinion ” buy on a fall , and sell on a rise ” and in wisdom he added “it is a volatile stock anything can happen “.. I failed to understand what the investor achieved of this conversation . the conversation had incorporated everything viz. . buy ,sell , hold and the standard disclaimer , “anything can happen ” . Investors are bombarded with packets of irreconcilable data which cause their little hard drives to collapse under pressure and confusion . Partly to blame for this are investors themselves , who ,in the quest for more information buy themselves a box of contradictions . !
What an investor needs is a modicum of authenticated information and to be phlegmatic .. however most investors these days are contrarian’s and hence , they follow up with every pink paper , and investment magazine , add to it the daily dose of ‘analysis’ on television … Those Score’s of analyst reciting their pedantic verses and the numerous phone calls by altruists souls that ring in to tell you ‘what’s hot on the street’ .! What do we have at the end of all this ? Ans.: An agglomeration of profligate et irreconcilable information and a confused individual — who can barely find his way in the heap of ‘ information ‘.
Serpents In the financial Eden :
All the information an investor has access to is at most sciolism , what lies beneath is above the reach of the common man on dalal street .Distortion and dilution are the two most plaintive facets of information today . Mostly intentional , distortion and dilution is carried out by interested quarters and the fodder is fed to the people , the public domain as we are all aware has the ability to Xerox information at the speed of light , and before you know it a distorted Piece of information has taken the shape of a ‘hot news’ on the street.
