What is Hope ?What is Regret ?

What is Hope?

Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. It’s an individual’s desire to want or wish for a desired event to happen.

Hope may be the most dangerous of all human emotions when it comes to trading. Hope is what keeps a trader in a losing trade after it has hit the stop. Greed and hope are what often prevent a trader from taking profits on a winning trade. When a stock is going up, traders will often remain in the trade in the “hope” of recouping past losses. Every swing trader hopes that a losing trade will somehow become a winning trade, but stock markets are not a charity. This type of thinking is dangerous because the group (stock market) could not care less about what you hope for, or what is in your best interest. Rest assured, when your thinking slips into hope mode, the market will punish you by taking your money.

What is regret?

Regret is defined as a feeling of sadness or disappointment over something that has happened or been done, especially when it involves a loss or a missed opportunity. (more…)

If You’re Good At Something Never Do It For Free

Seth Godin writes:

I had a college professor who did engineering consulting. A brand new office tower in Boston had a serious problem–there was a brown stain coming through the drywall, (all of the drywall) no matter how much stain killer they used. In a forty story building, if you have to rip out all the drywall, this is a multi-million dollar disaster. They had exhausted all possibilities and were a day away from tearing out everything and taking a loss. They hired Henry in a last-ditch effort to solve the problem. He looked at the walls and said, “I think I can work out a solution, but it will cost you $45,000 if I succeed.” They instantly signed on, because if he succeeded, the project would be saved. Henry asked for a pencil and paper and wrote the name of a common hardware store chemical and handed it to them. “Here, this will work.” And then he billed them $45,000. That’s quite an hourly wage. It’s also quite a bargain.

Everyday ,Iam receiving mails that why I take fees or Subscription* charges. Godin’s quote came to mind. Will flesh this out further in the days to come, but for now I thought his wisdom was appropriate.

10 COMMANDMENTS FOR MAKING MONEY

1.  BELIEVE IN THE DIGNITY AND MORALITY OF BUSINESS:  Making money is much harder if, deep down, you suspect it to be a morally reprehensible activity.

2.  EXTEND THE NETWORK OF YOUR CONNECTEDNESS TO MANY PEOPLE:  Befriend many people who are a rung or two above and below your financial level, then find ways to help them achieve their desires.  You will have discovered the secret of Partnership Power.

3.  GET TO KNOW YOURSELF:  To change the way others see you, first you have to learn to see yourself as others see you.

4.  DO NOT PURSUE PERFECTION:  Neither neglect the imperfect nor expend yourself on futile pursuit of perfection, while failing to make the most of less perfect circumstnaces.

5.  LEAD CONSISTENTLY AND CONSTANTLY:  Learning to lead is important, but it may not be what you think it is.  Leadership is not a noun; it is a verb.  It is not an identity; it is an action.  Don’t try to become a leader, just do it. Just lead.

6.  CONSTANTLY CHANGE THE CHANGEABLE WHILE STEADFASTLY CLINGING TO THE UNCHANGEABLE:  Convert change from enemy to ally by understanding when to enjoy the exhilaration of change and and when to fight it and steadfastly defend the unchangeable.

7.  LEARN TO FORETELL THE FUTURE:  Who is wise? One who can tell what will be hatched from an egg that has been laid. Not he who can see the future-that is a prophet.  Wisdom is seeing tomorrow’s consequences of today’s events.

8.  KNOW YOUR MONEY:  Your money is a quantifiable analog for your life force-the aggregate of your time, skills, experience, persistance, and relationships.

9.  ACT RICH: GIVE AWAY 10 PERCENT OF YOUR AFTER TAX INCOME:  Through the mystical alchemy of money, giving charity jump-starts wealth creation.

10.  NEVER RETIRE:  Integrate your vocation and your identity by thinking of life as a journey rather than a destination.

If you have not figured it out yet you soon will: learning to trade inside the charts finds its firm foundation outside the charts.  It is all in the way you think and in what you believe about money and wealth creation.
