I SUCCEED BECAUSE I FAIL

Most of us remember the Michael Jordan “Failure” commercial.  It is 30 seconds of pure wisdom for life and for trading.  As the market continues its twists and turns and while many churn and burn their trading accounts, now might just be a good time to revisit the basketball legend and the commercial that explains his remarkable success…and can explain ours too!

I missed more than 9000 shots in my career.

I’ve lost almost 300 games.

26 times I have been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.

I have failed over and over again in my life…and THAT IS WHY I SUCCEED.

Howard Lederer – On Poker And Trading The Markets

Michael Covel just published a new video interview. This one is about what kind of strategies you need to apply in order to win. Although the video is more or less about poker the insights of Howard Lederer can easily be applied to trading. Here’s a passage in the interview I’d like to quote:

Erin Burnett yells at guy, saying he is 'so rude!'

To be honest, we’re not sure what EuroPacific’s Michael Pento did during this debate that was so out of the norm for CNBC, where yelling and talking over each other is common… but obviously he touched a nerve with Erin Burnett who yelled at him YOU ARE SO RUDE right at the :37 mark.
Then after he finishes he point, she lectures him some more, prompting the eye-roll seen here.
As for the debate? It was about the US bond market and whether the massive US debt load will turn bonds into toilet paper. We guarantee nobody makes a point you haven’t already heard several times.
