Self-esteem and Trading Acccount

Does your self-esteem rise and fall with your account equity? If so, your probably in for some difficult times ahead with you’re trading. For some traders, a trade is more than a trade, it can represent how successful they are as a person, how much status they feel, etc.  When your self-concept is closely tied to your trading outcomes the result is a yo-yo effect in terms of your self-esteem and your internal state.  And our internal state has a lot to do with how well we trade.

Trading already involves a lot of uncertainty, and tying one’s sense of self-worth to the ups and downs of trading is unnecessarily adding emotional volatility to the picture and is usually not a good idea.

Most traders need to work on being more resilient in the face of disappointment. Trading will always involve disappointments, its part of the territory.  A delicate balance between being fully engaged in the trade with a ‘watchful curiosity’ and without being overly attached to the outcome, is how many successful traders describe their internal state.

TRADER’S PRAYER

Stock and options trading is difficult to master, much like life at times. We all go through times of hardship.  I believe our country (and world) is going through one right now.  But difficult times have come and gone in the past and I have faith that this is just another one of those times.  Here is my prayer for the trader…in and out of the charts.
May the sun always shine bright with energy when rising and glimmer with comfort in descentTRADERS PRAYER
May your charts whisper to your burning ears

May your flowers be full of bees and your weeds choke on fallen nectar
May your wins humble and your losses teach
May still waters massage your aches and clean water quench your thirst
May fear give way to peace and greed surrender to charity
May the eyes of a child sooth the wrinkles of age
May a logical life give new meaning to an illogical chart
May you outlive your mother and father and die honored before your children
May the life within bring beauty to the life without

Fix Your Eyes Forward and Not In The Past

Some of the greatest successes have been accomplished not long after a person had reached the end of their rope.

They had been beat down so much they had their backs to the wall and were ready to quit. but they did not.

Trading can easily cause us to get to this point unless we decide that when we hit the most difficult times in our trading is the exact time when we can emerge with more power and passion than every before.

Give yourself a push and decide what you truly want to accomplish and then forget about any past difficulties or disasters and fix your eyes forward to what you can do to become better.

Is Your Self-Esteem Tied To Your Account Equity?
