S&P 500 edges higher by the slimmest of margins but gains for the week were solid

The S&P 500 was up 0.07 points to 3239.98 on the day. The Nasdaq was down 0.17% and the DJIA up 0.08%. The decline in the Nasdaq snapped an 11-day winning streak.
The larger action was outside of equities with some substantial moves throughout FX and a decent rally in fixed income.

  • The down industrial average rose 77.79 points or 0.27% to 28454.75. The high price extended to 28608.64. The low extended to 28445.60.
The S&P index is up for the 4th straight week.

The major indices are all closing higher which means new record highs for each of them.

The NASDAQ and S&P have now closed at new all time highs for 4 consecutive trading days. The Dow has closed at record highs for 2 consecutive days.

Strong day for stocks

All the gains in the S&P 500 were essentially at the open. Since then the index has remainded around current levels. The index is up 28 points to 3196.
