Comments by German economy minister, Peter Altmaier
The current measures will go through to 10 January but the latest spike in cases and deaths may require tighter and more prolonged restrictions into the new year.
The German government and state leaders will be meeting again on Sunday to discuss on the matter and may announce further measures then.
